About Adrian College Learn to Skate
Arrington Ice Arena opened in 2007 and is home to the Adrian College Collegiate Skating Club and the Adrian College Learn to Skate USA Program. We offer seasonal skating lessons (Late August-Late March/Early April depending on the year) to skaters ages 3 to adults of all ages. No prior experience is needed to join our program. There is a chance to master the basic skills of skating and advance through the levels.
Our sessions range from 4 to 7 weeks in length, and at the end of the session, skaters will have a chance to show off their skills that they have learned. Once they have mastered the skills at a level, they will receive a badge to move up to the next level. Many of the skills will get more difficult and build off of previous skills. It is critical for a skater to truly master an element before moving up.
Some levels will have hard skills that are key fundamentals for future figure skating and hockey levels. Typically this occurs around Basic 3 and 4, but it can happen at any level. A skater may need additional practice and will have to retry it. Keep encouraging your skater if they find themselves retrying a level. Skaters in our program have opportunities to perform in the annual Bulldog Ice show and at local competitions. High School aged skaters are also welcome to take part in the Lenawee United HS Skating team that practices at our rink. For more information, please check out the tab Lenawee United HS Skating Team.
